Company fined after worker has arm severed in machine
A clinical waste disposal company has been fined £300,000 after a worker’s arm was severed from the elbow while attempting to clear an obstruction on an autoclave machine.
HSE’s investigation found:

  • no measures in place to prevent workers from being at risk when clearing blockages or cleaning machinery
  • that training provided to workers was inadequate with insufficient instructions on how to use and clean the machine

Recycling company fined after worker is crushed
A waste and recycling company has been fined £400,000 after a worker was seriously injured by a mobile shredder.


HSE’s investigation found that no safeguarding measures were in place to manage movement of workers and vehicles on site.
